The word “snorkeling” most often brings to mind images of tropical waters and coral reefs, bright colorful fish surrounding exotic invertebrates and something interesting tucked into every last nook and crevice. Indeed, that's exactly the scene most snorkelers set out to find. However, fewer people think about what can be had in their own backyard, in freshwater.
