National Geographic presents a gallery of newly discovered reef species. Pictured is the tripod fish Pteropsaron longipinnis. It was recently discovered on a reef about 200 feet (60 meters) underwater and, according to marine author Erdmann, is a “delicate, beautiful little species” that “occurs in groups of 8 to 15, with a single large male and a harem of smaller females.”
